Of course it happens in Alabama. They can't catch a break.

Four Daphne Middle School students -- two boys and two girls -- have been accused of taking nude photos of themselves with cell phone cameras and exchanging them, Daphne Police said today.

Daphne Police Lt. Jud Beedy said the investigation has uncovered two separate incidents:

--In one incident, a girl and a boy took nude photographs of themselves and sent the photographs to each other. This happened off campus, he said.
--In the other, a girl was given a cell phone by a boy. She took the cell phone into the girls bathroom at school, took nude photographs of herself and gave the cell phone back to the boy, he said.

Three students involved have been suspended by Daphne Middle School administrators, Baldwin County Public Schools spokesman Terry Wilhite said today. No arrests have been made, Beedy said, but the investigation continues.

So apparently the childhood game of "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" lives on to this day, but is now news if you do it via your cell phone camera. With Officer Jud Beedy's "beady" eyes watchful for this sinful indiscretion.

When I was your age, I played this in the unused garage in the back of my grandmother's place, called "the clubhouse." The attic was a hippie haven full of beads and porno mags left by my older cousins. Thankfully we were never raided by the cops, despite a brief attempt at charging kids to see pages from Penthouse and Playboy plastered on the walls. Nowadays I'd have been arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor (myself).
I'm still wondering which of my cheapo friends snitched on me, it was only a quarter for unlimited viewing. Certainly better than the old peep shows of 42nd Street.

I wonder if kids play "spin the iPod" now or something. Plastic bottles don't spin that well. The saddest thing about this story is that it made the newspaper. At least the photos weren't posted on The Internet, or it would have made national news.
