Most people know Audrey Tautou from Amelie, hopefully, and not that turd The DaVinci Code. While disturbingly impish in that role, she has quite a bit of range both in acting ability and physical sensuality, having a lot more meat on her bones than her doll-like figure from Amelie had.
As you can see, there's a lot more to Audrey Tautou. Admittedly, I've only seen three of her films, but they were all excellent. If you haven't seen Amelie yet, it's a wonderful film.
By the same director but much different is A Very Long Engagement, set during World War one; it has some of the most stunning visuals I've seen in a long time.
And I'd also recommend Dirty Pretty Things, an eye-opening drama set among the immigrants of London. It's a gripping film and you see some of her range there.
While she does suffer a bit of chicken leg syndrome, we'll forgive her that for her talent and other charms.
